One of the top marketers in the industry shares how to create a strong identity and get clients emotionally attached to your brand. Learn what it takes to become a successful portrait studio, from determining the best product mix to setting prices and promoting your business.
Sarah knows marketing. As she says on her marketing Web site (www.thejoyofmarketing.com):
Resist the temptation to take a drive-thru approach to marketing your photography business. Fast food is quick, cheap, and convenient. It satisfies our need for immediate gratification, but there is nothing remarkable about it.
Photographers are overwhelmed with advice, but still lack a true understanding of what marketing really is. Perhaps you feel like you are in too deep to change now. Perhaps you are afraid everything has already been done. Perhaps you have trouble defining what makes your studio special, what your pricing structure should look like or who it is you are trying to reach.
A true approach to marketing is a lot more like cooking a gourmet meal at home: fresher ingredients, more control, personalized to your tastes and ultimately, more satisfying.
Sarah Petty Bio:
From the time she was a child, Sarah Petty knew she wanted to own her own business. After earning her MBA from The University of Illinois, she taught marketing and business courses at a local college. She worked in the marketing department of Coca-Cola, and eventually became the marketing director for a top Central Illinois advertising agency. After spending many years teaching other business owners how to market and grow their businesses, she launched her own business, Sarah Petty Photography. Experiencing tremendous growth in her business and receiving several PPA AN-NE Marketing Awards, Sarah speaks nationally to help other photographers understand marketing. She prides herself on having extremely meaty marketing strategies and being able to clearly interpret them to photographers.
